Dear family,
What I remember most about your father is that he had a great sense of humor. Whenever I played 66 with Erika at your parent's house is that he always had a couple of jokes he shared with us.
"Kolle" was a great man. He will be missed.

We were sad to learn of Karl's passing. We met him and Grete a few years ago when the German Heritage Center did a program about a film the German TV made about the Manning Hausbarn. Karl was featured in it. He will be missed by many people. Our deepest condolences to all of his family.

I was surprised and saddened to see the posting about Mr. Maass. I never met Karl, but I had the pleasure of having 2 of his fine grandsons in my classroom. I have seen Jennifer lately at Grand Haven and she caught me up on what was happening with her family. I had hoped that my dad would have the opportunity to meet Mr. Maass at Grand Haven as he would have enjoyed hearing about Germany and life before coming to America.

Dear Karl's family, I was so sad to read on FB about Karl's passing. Cherish your many memories of your "Opa" and may you be comforted with God's promise of a heavenly reunion someday. We visited with Karl at Grand Haven a couple of weeks ago and had a good visit. He seemed to be in good spirits and was working on his paper cuttings. Karl and Grete were special friends of mine and Gary's. I always enjoyed visiting with Karl when I was in the church office and later whenever I would see him. He always had a few jokes to tell me and was a very kind man. He and Grete are now together in heaven, Praise the Lord! As I told him good bye the last time I saw him, Karl said "No, we will say "Auf Wiedersehen". God's strength, love and peace be with all of you.

Thanks so much Maribeth for your kind words. They did so cherish your friendship! He didn’t always remember to tell us when friends visited, thanks for that too. He did the same with us when we left, always say Auf Wiedersehen, not goodbye.
