Minnie Caroline (Schrock) Miller

Mrs. Minnie C. Miller, 92 of DeWitt, Iowa, died Saturday morning, June 10, 2017, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Mrs. Miller the former Minnie Caroline Schrock was born December 2, 1924, in Goodfield, Illinois, to the late Joseph and Caroline (Yoder) Schrock.  She was a graduate of Joy High School and attended business college following graduation.  On August 19, 1947, Minnie was united in marriage to Fred Miller.  The couple farmed and raised their family at rural McCausland. Minnie also worked as a cook at the DeWitt Hospital for a number of years.  Fred preceded her in death December 17, 1997.  

She was a longtime member of the McCausland United Methodist Church and more recently, St. Paul United Methodist Church, Grand Mound.  Minnie enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, canning, playing Bingo and going to the casino.  She greatly loved all babies.

Surviving are children, Edna Mickelson of DeWitt, Carolyn (Tom) Cole of Davenport, Mary (Roger) Kinney of Grand Mound, Linda (Roger) Garrett of Eldridge and Jim (Nancy) Miller of Deep Run, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Helen Herman of Eureka, Illinois, Ernie (Ferris) Schrock of Eliza, Illinois, Joed (Marge) Schrock of Aledo, Illinois and Ed (Mary) Schrock of Seaton, Illinois; nieces and nephews.

Preceding Minnie in death in addition to her husband and parents were a son, Duane; a son-in-law, Gary Mickelson; a sister, Marge Genung and a brother, Bill Schrock.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017.  A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in the funeral home with Pastor Denise Anderberg officiating.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound.  

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
