Steve Welsh

Steve Welsh, 68, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 8, 2016, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt. 

Robert Steven Welsh was born February 13, 1948, in Clinton to Leo and Dorothy (Lasack) Welsh of rural DeWitt. He attended DeWitt Central Schools. Steve was a lifelong member of the farming community of DeWitt and Welton. Throughout his life, he worked for several area farmers.   Steve enjoyed driving tractors and repairing farm machinery, readying it to complete the work in fields. 

Survivors are Steve’s siblings, Shirley Curley of Oxford Junction, Susan (Gary) Sivertsen and Stella (Dan) Knapper of DeWitt, Barbara Welsh Kinkaid of Clinton and Mike Welsh of DeWitt.  He was close to his niece and nephew, Tracy and Chad Knapper of DeWitt. Also surviving are a niece and five nephews living throughout the Midwest.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Arnold Curley.

The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2016, with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m.  The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt with the Rev. Fr. Paul Connolly presiding.  Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Petersville.

Pallbearers will be Donn Holst, Alfred Casad, Mart Connell, Chad Knapper, Victor Curley and David Kinkaid.  Honorary pallbearers are Al Connell, Steve "Woody" Spain and Robert Barber.
