So sorry to hear about Grete. Met her when we were first married and living on 8th st. She was always friendly, smiling and what a great person to visit with, when she would be "next door" visiting her family.

The funeral was a wonderful tribute to a wonderful lady. Brook spoke so eloquently about her Oma and told many heart-felt stories. Greta would have been so proud.

Joellyn and I were reminiscing about our times at your aunt Lisa's house supposedly learning German while eating delicious cookies and other sweets. I'm sure Greta had a part in helping with those.

I remember going to your house, Anke, after swimming when you lived across the street from the pool. Your mom was the sweetest person and always so gracious. She will be missed.

My sympathy goes out to you the family of Grete. My aunt, Darleen Tralau, loved Grete like a sister, and certainly enjoyed all of her visits while Aunt Darleen was in West Wing. I took care of Darleen's book work and was there quite often when Grete would visit, so I, too, got the benefit of her warm heart and smile. She was a caring, loving lady and will be missed on this earth, but all of heaven is rejoicing in her arrival to be with her Savior forever. Barbara Wulf

They say that your eyes are the mirrors to your soul. Such loving, caring and genuine eyes, you could not help but smile when she was around. Although, we did not see Mrs. Maass often, when we did her light filled the room. It was an honor to know her.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you, remember she is smiling at all of you and her hugs and kisses will wrap around each of you every minute of ever day.
God Bless.

Sympathy to the entire Maass family. When I was a lifeguard at the DeWitt Pool, Karl and Grete lived across the street from it. Just about every night, Karl and Grete would walk over to the pool after work with the 3 kids for "family swim". How many families, in today's busy world, would take the time to do what Karl and Grete did!

She was the sweetest neighbor - always bringing me a sample of her baking and her wonderful whipped cream. She would work in her yard when it was too hot for anyone to be out... but there she would be picking up sticks or raking. She was so loving. She would put laundry on the line before anyone else was up. She would always take the time to talk when I came home from work. I was blessed to live next door to her.
