Edward Paul Lichtenstein

Edward Paul Lichtenstein, 70, of Grand Mound, Iowa, passed away Friday morning September 30, 2016, at Wheatland Manor, following an extended illness due to traumatic brain injuries.

Ed was born, April 21, 1946, in Clinton, Iowa, to Glenn and Shirley (Casad) Lichtenstein of Grand Mound. He attended school in Grand Mound and graduated from Central Community High School in 1964. Ed married Clara M. Schatz of DeWitt.

At an early age Ed learned carpentry working with his father. During his life he built two homes for his family, and in more recent years, he restored his present home in Grand Mound.  Ed also worked for Dammerman Electric, Russell Soenksen Construction, was a partner at DeWitt Electric, and lastly I.B.E.W. Local 145.

Ed’s interests included fishing, photography, leather working, handcrafting furniture, racquetball, camping and canoeing.

Survivors include his son, Joe (Susan Sterett) of Grand Mound; sisters, Susan (Tom) Wing of Grant, AL, and Laurie Lichtenstein (Chris Weston) of Kerhonkson, NY; and a niece, Jessica (Steve) Lovette of Pinopolis, SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2016, at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, with a service following at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound. Memorials are suggested to the Brain Injury Association of Iowa.
