Mrs. Bonita E. Allen, 93, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Saturday evening, September 17, 2016, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.

Mrs. Allen, the former Bonita Edna Jaques was born July 7, 1923, in Missouri, to Audrey and Delma (Deeds) Jaques.  She married Denver LeRoy Allen August 3, 1940, in Fenton, Missouri.  The couple resided in the Sterling/Rock Falls, Illinois, area where Bonnie operated a restaurant.  The couple moved to DeWitt in May of 1951.  Denver preceded Bonnie in death April 4, 1979.  For the past seven years, she has resided with her son and daughter-in-law,  Mikel and Kathy in Calamus.  

Bonnie loved to cook and try different recipes.  She also enjoyed gardening, canning and preserving fruits and vegetables, sewing and keeping her home in order.  

Surviving are sons, Phillip Allen of DeWitt and Mikel (Kathy) Allen of Calamus; grandsons, Aaron and Brandon Allen; step-grandsons, Norman and Derek Siglow; great-grandchildren, Sky, Forest, Aaliyah, Alyssa, Andrea and Riley; siblings, Madeline Wilkinson of Sterling and Donald L. (Mary Elin) Jaques of Gilchrist, Oregon; a brother-in-law, Edwin Lauts of Sterling; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Bonnie in death in addition to her husband were her parents; a step-daughter, Edith Allen Huggins and siblings, Mary Jaques, Lorene Rank, Harold Jaques, Waldo Jaques, Lovell Jaques, Macel Wells and Juanita Lauts.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2016.  A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Allen, Brandon Allen, Lovell Jaques, Roger McNeil, Chuck White and Harry Weigandt.
