Rhea (Mrs. Merwyn) Hasenmiller, 84, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Friday morning, August 28, 2015, at Genesis Medical Center in DeWitt, Iowa.

Mrs. Hasenmiller was born Rhea Galloway June 9, 1931, to Harold and Wava (Hamilton) Galloway in Elwood, Iowa. After graduating from Grand Mound High School in 1948, she worked at Northwestern Bell in Maquoketa. She was united in marriage to Merwyn Hasenmiller on June 7, 1952, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa.  The couple farmed and raised their family in the Grand Mound area. Rhea worked at Walkers Department Store and later owned and operated J An K Kids in DeWitt.

Rhea was a member of Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, where she served on the Altar and Rosary Society and as Sacristan. She was active in the Grand Mound American Legion Auxiliary for sixty years, holding local, county, and district offices. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Westwing Place, Wheatland Manor, St. Joseph School, and the Clinton Community Historical Society. She was also very active in all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s events.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Merwyn; her children, Lori (Kevin) Green of DeWitt, Lu Ann (Mike) Robbins of Davenport,  Scott Hasenmiller of Grand Mound, and Paul (Gail) Hasenmiller of DeWitt; grandchildren, Katie (Lisa Dybvik) Green, Adam (Carrie) Green, Kelly Robbins, Jeff (Jennifer) Robbins, Justin (Jennifer) Hasenmiller, Jessica (Jon) Wood, Elizabeth Hasenmiller, and Kyle Hasenmiller; great-grandchildren Evie and Isabel Wood; siblings, Darleen Simmons, Earl (Jo) Galloway, Gerald (Barb) Wirth, Don (Janet) Galloway, Larry (Pat) Galloway, Roger (Linda) Galloway, Barbara (Ken) Schroeder, Al (Pam) Galloway, Russ (Marilyn) Galloway, Jim (Bev) Galloway, Marcia (Ronnie) Barten, and Linda Miller; sister-in-law, Carol Galloway; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister, her parents, brothers, Dwain and Geff, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Simmons.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2015, at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound with a Rosary at 3:30 and Vigil Service at 7:00.  A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015, in the church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
