William “Bill” Edwards, 70, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, May 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2025, in the church, with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery.
William Byron Edwards was born May 31, 1954, in Clinton, Iowa, to Milton and Dolores (Donahue) Edwards. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School, he received an associate degree from Mount Saint Clare College and then a bachelor’s degree from St. Ambrose University. On September 4, 1976, Bill married the love of his life, Teresa Trimble at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Villa Nova. He and Teresa shared 48 wonderful years together. Bill worked as a human resources manager for 45 years, at Dunn and Bradstreet, Arcadian, and Sethness Products, retiring in 2014.
Bill was a man who never wavered in his faith, even when his health did. Through every trial, he held on to hope, leaned on his beliefs, and kept his sense of humor alive—something that brought light to every room he entered. He was the kind of man you could always count on, steadfast, dependable, and kind. He had a profound love for his family, and nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with grandchildren. Whether he was sharing a quiet moment, offering a gentle word of wisdom, or making them laugh with his silly jokes, his devotion to them was constant and deep. Bill found joy behind the wheel of his 72 Chevelle listening to the Rolling Stones and taking Teresa for rides in the country. He loved a good game of Blitz, cheering on the Packers, and of course, his Alabama football, “Roll Tide”.
Surviving are his wife, Teresa; children, Erica (Darin) Voss, Nathan, and Daniel; grandchildren, Emmit, Miles, Evy, and Michael; sisters, Jeanne Etzel, Kathy Barber, and Mary Edwards; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are in-laws, Rita (Jim) Schafer, Mary Kay (Don) Shumaker, Maureen Schrader, Lee (Linda) Trimble, Beth (Gary) Burke, Becky (Tom) Burke, Peggy (Joel) Carstensen, Loren (Anne) Trimble, Garry (Gayle) Trimble, and Joe (Rusti) Trimble
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jim, and brother-in-law, Erle Etzel. He was also preceded in death by in-laws, Leo and Rosalie Trimble, Rosie (Louie) Biel, Dennis Schrader, and a niece Stephanie Shumaker.
