Todd Hughes Obituary

Todd Alan Hughes, 60, of Grand Mound, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in Donahue, Iowa.

Born on December 15, 1963, in Sac City, Iowa, Todd was the son of Glen and Genevieve (Thomson) Hughes. A graduate of Sac City High School, Todd later earned his Associate of Science degree in Drafting from Phoenix, AZ. On September 28, 1996, he married Coleen Joy Paarmann Hughes. They resided in Grand Mound, Iowa.

Todd was the owner and operator of Copper Horse Woodworks, a business he started 15 years ago. Todd was inspired by different woods and grain patterns that nature provides. He used those inspirations as well as other elements such as metal (copper), stone, and glass to create his artworks. All of his works were true originals, as no two pieces were the same. He won several awards for his works of art. Todd also loved horses and worked as a horse trainer for both quarter horses and thoroughbreds. His love for horses also inspired pieces of art combining both of his passions. Todd was an avid motorcycle rider and only rode Harley Davidson. He owned a couple bikes including a 2003 Harley Heritage Springer Anniversary Edition.

Todd is survived by his loving wife, Coleen, and his stepchildren, Christopher Postell, Michael Postell, and Nathan (Alli) Postell. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kourtney (Joshua) Stearns, Kylee Postell, and Ashlynne Postell; his great-grandchildren, Blaine, Oliver, Eloise, and Flynn Stearns. His siblings, Connie (Cary) Richardson, Becky Hughes, and Michael Hughes, also survive him, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Genevieve Hughes.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Todd's honor on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Ray’s Pub in Donahue, Iowa.
