Steve Ocheltree, 67, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, early Friday morning, February 11, 2022, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Steven Douglas Ocheltree was born April 24, 1954, to Keith and Marilyn (Sergeant) Ocheltree in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Central Community Schools in DeWitt in 1974, he attended A.I.C. for accounting. Steve worked as a delivery driver for Coke-Cola for 10 years. He was united in marriage to Diana Lynn Prather on October 20, 1979, at the Church of God in Ripley, Illinois. The couple resided in DeWitt. He worked 28 years as a carrier for Genesis Medical Centers and retired in 2020. Diana preceded him in death on October 18, 2020.
Steve was a member of God’s Family Baptist Church in Grand Mound, where he was very active, serving as trustee, treasurer, song leader, volunteering at the Iowa-80 Truck Stop Ministry, and being a friend to all. He was an avid Cubs fan, flying the flag whenever they won. He also enjoyed watching NCIS, gospel programing, and the Gaithers.
He is survived by his daughter, Stacy Ocheltree of Grand Mound; grandchildren, Adonis Kimmins, Adreona and Alana Ocheltree; a sister, Kathy (Randy Snook) Ocheltree of Davenport; a niece, Kimberli Ocheltree; step-father, Ed Green; and other extended family.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Antonio Ocheltree.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jerry Hull of God’s Family Baptist Church, Grand Mound will officiate. A meal will follow at the church at 12:30.
