Sherry Haack, 80, of Calamus, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 1, 2025.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2025, in the church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in DeWitt.
Sherry Lee Mickey was born October 18, 1944, in Clinton, Iowa, to Kenneth and Madeline (Ohlerich) Mickey. She graduated from Central Community Schools in DeWitt, class of 1962. Sherry was united in marriage to Donald Haack on June 17, 1962, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt. The couple resided in Calamus, where they raised four children. In addition to homemaking, Sherry worked in the bakery at Barnes Foodland for several years, and then was a rural postal carrier for the United States Postal Service for 17 years.
Sherry was a longtime member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. She enjoyed doing all kinds of crafts with her family, attending her grandchildrens activities, and being part of a knitting group full of special ladies for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Don; her children and their families, Jeff and his children, Nichole (Jacob) Bomia, and Joshua Haack; Mark (Wanda) and their daughter, Olivia (Randy) Mueller; Greg (Amy) and their children, Amber, Jared (fiancée Shauna), and Nolan Haack; Karen (Chris) Mangelsen and their children, Carsen (fiancée Kennedy), Bree, and Leah Mangelsen; and 2 cherished great-grandchildren, Harrison Mueller, and Annie Bomia. Also surviving are her siblings, Kenny Dale (Sharon) Mickey, Rita Grandinetti, Jean Martensen, and Jim Mickey; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, daughter-in-law, Beth Haack, sisters, Brenda Mickey and Deborah Berner, a brother-in-law, J.C. Martensen, and sister-in-law, Eunice Haack.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bliedorn or Camp Courageous.
