Sandra Kay (Hahn) Crosthwaite

Sandra Crosthwaite, 79, of Grand Mound, passed away early Thursday morning, October 17, 2019, at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt, Iowa.

Sandra Kay Hahn was born December 29, 1939, to John and Joyce (Campbell) Hahn in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from Grand Mound High School in 1957. Sandy was united in marriage to Richard Crosthwaite on June 29, 1958 at Sts Philip and James Catholic Church in Grand Mound. Sandra was a homemaker, raising 5 children. She later worked at her family’s grocery store in Grand Mound and DeWitt Bank and Trust. Her favorite job was traveling to various grocery stores to reset product displays.

Sandy was a member of Sts Philip & James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. She enjoyed being a part of the Day Trippers, her special outings with the girls from her graduating class, and having her family fill her house with joy. She was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan. Sandy also enjoyed attending her family’s sporting events.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dick; her mother, Joyce Hahn-Bartling of Wheatland; children, Vicki Crosthwaite of Woodbridge, Virginia, Debbie (Chris) Feeney of Davenport, Roxanne (Larry) McElroy of Camanche, Kevin (Darla) Crosthwaite of West Branch, and Kurt (Tammy) Crosthwaite of Grand Mound; grandchildren, Morgan (Nick) Wolfe and Noah Crosthwaite, Mitchell and Emily McElroy, and Cole Crosthwaite; one great-grandchild on the way; siblings, Tom (Shirley) Hahn, Karen (Jim) Steffen, Rollie (Sandy) Hahn, Jo (Larry) Kelly; a very close sister-in-law and friend, Ardith Barr; brother-in-law, Roger Crosthwaite; other extended family; and dear and lifelong friends, including Karen Pinter, Beth Haring and Jody O'Brien Hogan.

She was preceded in death by her father, John, stepfather, Vic Bartling, brothers-in-law, Dennis Barr and Ronald Crosthwaite, nephew, David Barr, and a niece, Kris Manning, her father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Dorothy Crosthwaite.

Visitation will be from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Sts Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, with a Rosary at 12:30. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2019, in the church, the Rev. Father Francis Odoom officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound.
