Sally Jean (Phillips) Dean, 85, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Sally was born on January 23, 1941, in Mystic, Iowa, to William and Ethel (Bradwell) Phillips. She was a proud graduate of Davenport Central High School, Class of 1959. Sally married Leo Vernon Dean on July 16, 1966. The couple resided in Davenport, where they built deep roots and lasting friendships.
Sally was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-hearted friend. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed annual family vacations, most memorably to Las Vegas and Nashville, quilting, playing Texas Hold’em with her grandsons, and trips to the casino. Her laughter, warmth, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Matt Dean (Julie) of Germantown, Tennessee; Melissa Bixby (Jeff) of DeWitt, Iowa; and Angela Evans (David) of Chesterfield, Missouri. Sally was a proud and loving grandmother to Tyler Dean (Erin) of Eugene, Oregon; Ryan Dean (Ashlynn) of Germantown, Tennessee; Liz Bixby of DeWitt; and Lexi Evans of Chesterfield, Missouri, all of whom brought her immense joy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leo; her parents; and her siblings Ruth, Ira “Buddy”, Betty, Kay, Bill, Earsel, Dick, and Carol.
Sally will be laid to rest alongside her husband with a private service at the Rock Island Arsenal.
