Rosaleen "Rosie" Andersen

Rosie Andersen, 75, of Charlotte, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home.

Rosaleen Ann “Rosie” Andersen was born September 16, 1950, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Paul and Anna (Steckler) Drohan. She and her siblings spent 7 years at St. Vincent Orphanage in Davenport, before their Uncle Pius took them in, raising them in Clinton. She graduated from Mount St. Clare High School. She raised two daughters before meeting the love of her life, Arlen Andersen. They were married on December 23, 1991, growing her family with Arlen’s three children. The couple farmed, raising pigs near Elvira for many years. She enjoyed working at the floral shop and Seventh Avenue/Swiss Colony.

She enjoyed music, dancing, and margaritas, loved feeding the birds, and cherished her quiet moments on the porch with a glass of wine and an ice cube. Her dogs meant the world to her. She treasured time with her children and grandchildren and was an avid fan of Iowa Hawkeye wrestling and the Chicago Cubs.

Surviving are her husband, Arlen; children, Carey (Ben) Arndt of DeWitt, Angie Holt of Clinton, Andy (Tracia) Andersen of Delmar, Angela (Scott) Thomsen of McCausland, A.J. (Shunté) Andersen of Willis, Texas; grandchildren, Jasmine, Tyler (Abby), Courtney, Isaac (Samantha), Zavion, Gabe, Demarcus, Brady, Zaylee, Kiara, Addi, Alex, Omari, Aalexi, Naomi, Eliana, Zamora;  great-grandchildren, Julian, Brooklyn, Bentley, Zion and Elyas; sisters, Margaret Ryan and Charlotte Powell; a sister-in-law, Linda Drohan; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, uncle Pius, a brother, Francis “Frank” Drohan, and a grandson, Dylan Andersen.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2025, in the funeral home.
