Roger Dean Poell

Roger Poell, 76, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, in his home, following a brief illness.

Roger Dean Poell was born June 27, 1946, to Lester and Marjorie (York) Poell in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in DeWitt in 1964, and then served in the U.S. Army. Roger married Judy Novak on March 21, 1999. He owned and operated Roger Poell Plumbing for many years, retiring in 2016.

He enjoyed fishing, car clubs, playing golf with his friends, his Tuesday lunch group, and spending time in Arizona. He especially loved time spent with his grandchildren, attending their sporting events.

Surviving are his wife, Judy; his son, Rick (Jane) Poell of Cross Roads, Texas, and Renee (John) Carroll of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandchildren, Chandler and Alexis Poell, and Whitney, Wesleigh, and Walker Carroll; a brother, Duane (Vicky) Poell of Fountain Hills, Arizona; and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Janet Simonson.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the service time of 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with a recitation of the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Deacon Mike Sheil will officiate. Military honors will follow at the funeral home.
