Robert DeLange

Robert DeLange, 69, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus in Davenport, due to complications from cancer.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2024, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with visitation one hour prior. Military Rites will follow at the funeral home.

Robert William DeLange was born October 29, 1954, in Clinton, Iowa, to Harold and Virginia (Vetter) DeLange. He graduated from DeWitt Central High School. He served one term in the Coast Guard, being stationed at Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Ft. Macon in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. While serving in the Coast Guard, he received culinary training, which his family would appreciate for the rest of his life. After his honorable discharge, Bob was employed as the maintenance manager for Island Beach & Racket Club, in Atlantic Beach. He was married to Melissa Rice, with whom he had a beloved daughter, Eryn. They later divorced. Bob returned to Iowa, where he worked as an over-the-road truck driver for many years. After retiring from trucking, he worked at Randy’s Market in DeWitt. In 2019, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nylia Secia.

Surviving are his wife, Nylia; his daughter, Eryn (Taylor Pridgen) DeLange of Havelock, North Carolina; siblings, Harold J. (Polly) DeLange II of Davenport, and Nancy (Ken) Rohwedder of Davenport; Nylia’s children, Amanda Secia and her children, Madilyn (Jacob) Brown, Mallory, Maddox, and Marshall Vaske, and Mark (Denise) Secia and their children, Aryanna and Bentley; his mother-in-law, Patty Jean Stephenson; nieces and nephews, and many other extended family; and his special fur-baby, Theodore.

Preceding him in death were his parents.
