Rick Short

Rick Short, 64, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away on November 8, 2025, at his home in DeWitt.

Ricky James Short was born April 22, 1961, in Moline, Illinois, to Raymond James Short and Hazel Marie (Clark) Short. He grew up in DeWitt and graduated from Central Community Schools. Rick retired from driving school bus for the Davenport School District.

Rick is survived by his children, Anthony (Misty) Short of Low Moor, and Laci (Damian) Pate; his grandchildren, Bella, Jaylynne, Joseph, Alayna, and Aaliyah; his siblings, Donna (Joe) Mackin, Mike (Janice) Short, and Cordia Short; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will host a memorial gathering on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the DeWitt Community Center from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be directed to Anthony Short in memory of Rick.
