Richard Meland

Rich Meland, 85, of Low Moor, Iowa, died Thursday, March 22, 2024, at Wheatland Manor.

Richard Lensey Meland was born October 26, 1938, to Knute and Myrtle (Anderson) Meland in Lake Mills, Iowa. He was previously married to Arlene, with whom he had four children. Richard worked in the grain and feed industry, managing Farm Service and Peavy Grain. He later married Judith Anderson Schroeder. She preceded him in death in 2012.

Surviving are his children, Jim (Brenda) Meland of Northwood, Iowa, Deb (Dave) Schnack, of Nebraska, Angie (Dave) Drews of Clinton, and Scott Meland of Sealy, Texas; step-children, Carissa “Carrie” Schroeder, Heath (Alyssa) Schroeder, Jason (Katie) Schroeder, and Tracie Bernauer; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a step-brother, Kermet Meland.

In addition to his wife, Judy, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Harlan (Viola) Meland.

Rich will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery in DeWitt, with a private family service.
