Richard Dierks

Richard Dierks, 77, of Winnebago, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Born December 18, 1947, in Clinton, IA, the son of Forest and Alberta (Franck) Dierks. Richard married Linda Johnston on April 6, 1973 in De Witt, IA. He served his country in the Army Reserves. Richard worked for Caterpillar in DeWitt for 15 years and then for Motorola for 15 years.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Richard was a very friendly and welcoming person. He loved University of Iowa sports and was a Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. Richard enjoyed fishing and taking care of his lawn.

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Brad Dierks and Amanda (Cesar) Maestas; grandchildren, Callie, Violet, Tony, Carter, and Eli; a sister, Ruth (Art) Mayland; a brother-in-law, Dave (Madonna) Johnston; a sister-in-law, Diane (Ray) Chlebicki; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and in-laws, Lyle and Gladys Johnston.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Genandt Chapel, 602 N. Elida Street, Winnebago, IL 61088.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025, at DeWitt United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be determined at a later date.
