Richard “Dick” Crosthwaite, 83, of Grand Mound, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Genesis Medical Center-East, Davenport.
Dick was born February 18, 1938, to George and Dorothy (Dosland) Crosthwaite in Clinton, Iowa. He graduated from Grand Mound High School in 1956. Dick was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Hahn on June 29, 1958, at Sts Philip and James Catholic Church in Grand Mound. The couple resided in Grand Mound. Dick worked as a computer operator for Ralston Purina until retirement in 2000. Sandy preceded him in death on October 17, 2019.
Dick enjoyed playing cards with friends, watching NASCAR and dirt track racing, and attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan, and toy tractor collector.
He is survived by children, Vicki Crosthwaite of Lewes, Delaware, Debbie (Chris) Feeney of Davenport, Roxanne (Larry) McElroy of Camanche, Kevin (Darla) Crosthwaite of West Branch, and Kurt (Tammy) Crosthwaite of Grand Mound; grandchildren, Morgan (Nick) Wolfe and Noah (fiancée, Aubree) Crosthwaite, Mitchell and Emily McElroy, and Cole Crosthwaite; one great-grandson, Brooks Wolfe; sister, Ardith Barr; brother, Roger Crosthwaite; in-laws, Tom (Shirley) Hahn, Karen (Jim) Steffen, Rollie (Sandy) Hahn, Jo (Larry) Kelly; and other extended family.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ronald Crosthwaite, brother-in-law, Dennis Barr, nephew, David Barr, niece, Kris Manning, father and mother-in-law, John and Joyce Hahn and stepfather-in-law, Vic Bartling.
Visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Sts Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m., in the church, Deacon Mike Sheil officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell McElroy, Noah Crosthwaite, Cole Crosthwaite, Larry McElroy, Chris Feeney, and Nick Crosthwaite. Honorary pallbearers will be Morgan Wolfe and Emily McElroy.
Memorials may be made to the Grand Mound Fire Department, and the Grand Mound Community Center.
