Richard Bevan, 97, of Wheatland, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Wheatland Manor.
Richard Eugene Bevan was born July 21,1927, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Frederick and Margaret (Fawcett) Bevan. Richard grew up in Moline, Illinois where he graduated from Moline High School. Richard joined the United States Army in 1945 and was stationed in the states. Richard worked at the Moline Post office as a distribution clerk and that is where he met his wife, Lois Carpenter, who also worked at the Post Office. They were married by his father who was a minister at that time at their church. The couple resided in Wheatland.
Richard enjoyed watching football and Hawkeye basketball, and especially watching Kaitlyn Clark.
A special Thank you to all the workers at Wheatland Manor who took such good care of Richard. Richard will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, Lois, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Frederick, and sister, Margaret.
He is survived by his friends, Kari Jones and her son, Zach, who was like a grandson to him along with his wife, Jessica and their boys, as well as Linda Schneider, Mike Dunn, and James Badgley with his family.
Richard will be buried at the Rock Island Arsenal.
