Raymond Francis Cook, 74, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, March 24, 2020, at home.
He was born February 5, 1946, in Davenport to Archie and Velma (Thess) Cook. Raymond was a 1965 graduate of Central Community High School, DeWitt. Early in his life, he worked at Interprovincial Pipe and Steel Company (IPSCO), Camanche and later at Mississippi Engineering, Grand Mound until retirement.
Raymond was a baptized and confirmed active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ dearly and showed that love by his kindness and willingness helping others. He had a close relationship with his grandparents, Peter and Julia (Sherman) Thess of Calamus and his aunt, Ina Thess of Grand Mound.
Surviving Raymond are a nephew, Peter Robinson of Davenport and a niece, Jenny Robinson of Louisville, Kentucky; numerous friends who helped Raymond over the years for which he was most grateful.
Preceding him in death were his parents and grandparents, a brother, Peter and his Aunt Ina as well as other relatives and friends.
A private visitation and Service of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound with the Rev. Steven L. Anderson officiating. He will be buried next to his Grandpa and Grandma Thess and Aunt Ina at Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus. Pallbearers will be Dean Geise, David Schanze, Douglas Schultz, JJ Erickson, Jamie Green and Ray Ackerman. Honorary pallbearers will be Joan Hinck, Monica Anderson, Donna Geise, Mary Ann Schanze, Tom and Margaret Vetter, Gary Hintz, Randy Juhl and others who befriended Raymond. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound.
