Peter Dwain Cook, 66, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Thursday morning, May 3, 2018, at home.
Peter was born February 9, 1952, in Jackson, Michigan. He was raised from infancy in Grand Mound by Raymond and Genevieve Techau, his aunt and uncle whom he knew as mom and dad.
Peter married Dorene Poulain on November 17, 1984 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They had two children, Peter Dwain Jr., and Jenny Lynne. The couple later divorced. Peter ran P.D.C. Lime Company south of Grand Mound until retiring due to deteriorating health and the loss of his legs from diabetes.
Peter loved his children very much. He enjoyed coon hunting and racing many types of cars. He loved his Diet Mountain Dew, cigarettes, and dogs. Peter was happiest when talking to his daughter on the phone and making her laugh.
He is survived by his children, Peter Robinson of Davenport, and Jenny Robinson of Louisville, Kentucky; a brother, Raymond Cook of Grand Mound; and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Archie and Velma (Thess) Cook, his other parents, Raymond and Genevieve (Thess) Techau.
Visitation will be from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound, with Pastor Denise Anderberg officiating.
