Penny Riley, 60, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in her home, Friday, December 9, 2022. Having fought cancer for the past 18 months, she smashed it. Her passing was simple, peaceful, elegant and beautiful, just as she lived her life.
Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2022, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial following at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
Penny was born November 1, 1962, in DeWitt, Iowa, to Harold Ray “Harry” and Sara Jane (Rands) Meggers. She graduated from North Scott High School and received an associate degree from Blackhawk College. Penny married Roger Riley on July 1, 2000. To their union was born a daughter, Emma Clare. She was previously married to Jeffrey Dietz, with whom she had two children, Joshua and Audra. Penny last worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant at Millennium Therapy, retiring in 2022.
Penny enjoyed Sunday morning facetime chats with her cronies, being a “GaGa” to her grandkids, traveling, spending time at her cabin on the Wapsi, giving her husband hell at the most appropriate times, and shopping. Penny lived her faith every single day of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Roger; daughters, Audra (Chris) Sieverding, Emma (fiancé Tyler Greim) Riley; grandchildren, Bayleigh and Brynnley Sieverding, Maddox Greim, and Wrenley Greim (premiering April of 2023); siblings, Pam Meggers of Eldridge, Mike (Michelle) Meggers of Bettendorf and David (Melissa) Meggers of Eldridge, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; her lifelong biffy, Darci Miller; a sister and brothers-in-law, Janet Capper, Brian Riley and Barry Riley. Also surviving are more friends than can possibly be listed here.
Joey and Chub will miss her the most.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Joshua Dietz, and her in-laws, John and Charlotte Riley.
