Paul Frederick Keitel

Paul Frederick Keitel, 62, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, in Davenport, having bravely fought his final battle with cancer on the morning of January 15, 2022.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022, in the church, with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Page officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Paul was born January 13, 1960, in DeWitt, Iowa, to Henry and Alice (Green) Keitel. Following his father’s passing, his mother married Charles Lasack and the family moved to his farm in Lost Nation. After graduating from Lost Nation, Paul moved back to the Keitel family farm in DeWitt, where he built his lifelong home. Paul married Terri in 1992, and the couple had three children.

Paul served his community by being an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Saber Booster Club, Clinton County Cattlemen’s Association, Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed officiating high school and college sports, as well as driving school bus.

He is survived by his wife, Terri; children, Jennifer (Partner Kayla Bryant) Keitel of Yankton, South Dakota, Christopher (Fiancée Alisa) Keitel of Madison, Wisconsin, Allison (Marcus) Harrington of Des Moines, Iowa; siblings, Dennis, Ron (Pat), Mary (Ray), Nancy (Steve), Sue (Matt), Cathy, Joe (Connie), Jim (Gina); sisters-in-law, Mary Lou and Jane; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, brothers, Steve and John, and a sister-in-law, Margaret.
