Norma Elizabeth Wood, 85, of Hampstead, North Carolina, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away on April 8, 2023, following a brief illness. A memorial service will be held in Norma's honor on October 23 at 10:00 am at Schultz Funeral Home in DeWitt, Iowa. A graveside committal service will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Born on December 23, 1937 in Barton, Arkansas, Norma was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She embodied the values of hard work and devotion, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

After graduating from Barton High School and Nashville Business College, Norma married William “Bill” Wood and the pair moved to DeWitt, Iowa to build a life together raising their children and establishing deep roots within the community.

Norma's professional journey spanned over two decades as a successful real estate agent. With her entrepreneurial spirit, she founded her own agency, Wood Realty, which quickly became a pillar of trust and integrity in the DeWitt area. Norma's unwavering professionalism and dedication were admired by her colleagues and clients alike. After retiring from real estate, Norma moved to North Carolina to be closer to family, and especially her grandchildren.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Norma found joy in a multitude of hobbies. She had a green thumb and spent countless hours tending to her beloved flowers. Norma also found joy in DIY home projects, using her creativity and skill to beautify her surroundings. Additionally, she generously volunteered her time with the church and enjoyed engaging in friendly games of bridge. Norma's infectious laughter and playful spirit brought joy to all who had the pleasure of crossing her path.

A woman of faith, Norma found solace and inspiration at Hampstead Baptist Church, in North Carolina where she was an active and cherished member. Her unwavering devotion to her beliefs served as a guiding light, providing her with strength and compassion in all aspects of her life.

She is survived by her children, William (Cheryl) Wood of Fairbanks, Alaska, Russell (Laura) Wood of Southport, North Carolina, and Sandra Wood of Boise, Idaho; eight adoring grandchildren; siblings Harold (Phyllis) Hollowell and Kathleen (Hollowell) Drollinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wood, parents Lewis Burton “L.B.” and Doris Hollowell, and her siblings Myrtice (Hollowell) Berry and Neville Hollowell.

Norma will forever be remembered as a pillar of strength, grace, and love. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
