Nanette Duncan, 84, formerly of Eldridge, Iowa, passed away late Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Genesis Medical Center-East, Davenport.
Nanette was born September 7, 1937, to Senator Norman Goodwin and his wife Marion (née Blomgren) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from DeWitt High School, and furthered her education at various colleges. She was married to Jesse Barnes, with whom she had two children. They later divorced. Nanette had a wide range of different careers, one of which being at Barnes Costume Company in the early 1960s, later diversifying into insurance. She was united in marriage to Howard Duncan on June 16, 1973. He preceded her in death in 2011. Nanette loved animals, traveling, gardening, garage sales, arts and crafts.
She is survived by her son, Robert Barnes of Florida; stepchildren; grandchildren, Joseph Bulens of Des Moines, and Samantha Bulens of Davenport; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Julie Hoffman of West Lafayette, Indiana; a niece and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Bulens in 2010, and brother, David Goodwin in 2018.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A private graveside memorial will be held for the family at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
