Nancy Jo McMahon

Nancy “Martha” McMahon, 73, of DeWitt, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January, 11, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 16, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the service time of 11:00 a.m. at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Burial following in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Nancy Jo Spies was born March 30, 1950, in Davenport, Iowa, to Marlin and Jeanette (Rohwer) Spies. She graduated from Davenport West High School in 1968. She was united in marriage to Ronald E. McMahon on December 23, 1971, in Rock Island. The couple resided in the DeWitt area. Nancy worked at Ben Franklin in DeWitt for 16 years, and retired from Walmart in Clinton as a Department Manager in 2012.

Nancy was an avid crafter, displaying her talents at many craft shows in the area. In retirement, Nancy enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, BINGO, and trips to the casino. She will be fondly remembered for her baking, especially cinnamon rolls.

Surviving are her loving husband of 52 years, Ron; children, Ronda (Brian) Simonson of DeWitt, Renee (Joe) Duwa of Low Moor, Roxann (Bryan) Kagemann of DeWitt, and stepdaughter, Paula (Garey) Chrones of DeWitt; grandchildren, Jeanette, Em, Remington, Garrison, Dylan, Grayson, and Lucas; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Linda Voss, Sandy Schumacher, and Rick Spies, and her stepson, John McMahon.
