Myra Jane Mickelson

Myra Mickelson, 73, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Myra Jane Wilson was born October 20, 1950, in DeWitt, Arkansas, to Marion and Freeda (Hayes) Wilson. She graduated from high school in Davenport. Myra was united in marriage to Raymond Marvin Mickelson, Sr. in 1971 in Rock Island, Illinois. The couple resided in DeWitt where they raised 4 children. Ray preceded her in death in 2020.

Myra loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening anything she could grow. She spent many happy moments appreciating her beautiful sunflowers from her window. She also enjoyed listening to oldies on the radio and watching British comedies. Myra especially loved having her grandchildren come to visit.

She is survived by daughters, Andrea (Matt) Cavey of Wheatland and Molly (Anthony) Welch of Wheatland; a son, Nathan Mickelson of DeWitt; grandchildren, Collin, Ava, Corbin, and Evelynn Cavey, Zachary and Matthew Welch, Xander and Valerie Mickelson, and Sophia and John Mickelson and their mother, Hailey Kitchen; a sister, Mariana “Moon” Wilson of Kansas; and her dear friend Michelle House.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and son, Raymond Mickelson Jr.

In keeping with her wishes, following cremation, a private family service will be held.
