Missy Strodtman, 54, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died Sunday, February 19, 2023, in Maquoketa.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Melissa Jean DeCap was born January 19, 1969, to William and Regina (Ruby) DeCap in Silvis, Illinois. She graduated from North Scott High School in 1987. Missy married Randy Strodtman in 1998. Together they raised Robert, Morgan, and Jack, and later they welcomed Brantley and Braylyn into their family. Missy worked at Target in the Quad Cities for over 30 years. She then ran the school lunch program for Andrew Community Schools for the last 5 years.
Missy was a kind, generous, loving person. She never knew a stranger. Missy was the kind of person to help anyone at any time. She also had a soft spot for any animal that needed help, bringing many a stray into her home. She loved being outside and learned to do many things to help Randy on the farm. She also loved gardening flowers and vegetables. She would can many vegetables and could be counted on to make pies and jellies from the black raspberries her dad would bring her. Many people will miss her infectious laugh.
She is survived by her husband, Randy; children, Robert (Amber Olson) Strodtman of Maquoketa, Morgan Strodtman of Dubuque, Jack Strodtman of Maquoketa, and Braylyn Welford; her father, Bill DeCap of Princeton; siblings, Trina (David) Hill, Mike (Stephanie) DeCap, Rick Hamilton, Randy (Patty) Hamilton, Jeff (Marcy) Hamilton, Sheryl (Dean) Glunz, and Sharon (Todd) Vershaw; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Margaret Ruby, her mother, Regina, her step-mother, Billie DeCap, and her son Brentley.
