Maxine Anderson Obituary

Maxine Anderson, 92, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully, early Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Westwing Place in DeWitt.

Maxine Joyce Hudson was born May 29, 1929, to Fay and Ada (Roesger) Hudson in Low Moor, Iowa. She graduated from Clinton High School. Maxine married Bruce Anderson on Oct. 25, 1950, at the United Methodist Church in Low Moor. The couple farmed at rural DeWitt, for many years. Bruce preceded her in death in 2011.

She was a member of the DeWitt Congregational UCC, where she served many lunches and helped in any capacity she could. She also belonged to The Rebekahs Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Past Nobel Grands, T.O.P.S., and various card clubs. She enjoyed following her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all of their church and school activities.

Surviving are children, Ruth (Bob) Zimmerman of Delmar, Iowa, Dale (Jolene) Anderson, Russell Anderson and Greg (Kris) Anderson all of DeWitt; a son-in-law, Rich Meland of Low Moor; grandchildren, Carissa, Heath (Alyssa) and Jason (Katie) Schroeder, Tracie Bernauer, Jill Anderson, Jared (Audrey) Anderson, Julie (Gabe) Franker, Jena (Brandon) Overman, Bridgett (Anthony) Eads, Brandon Anderson and Colton Anderson; step-grandchildren, Bobby and Brian Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Elaina, Landon, Quinn, Lauren, Natalie, Kody, Blake, Caden, Gracelynn, Katie, Lincoln, Harrison, Hayes, Briggs, and Emma; a brother, Lawrence Hudson; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joyce, her daughter, Judith Meland, sisters, Donna (Don) Reher, and Sandra Sterbenz, a sister-in-law, Shirley Hudson, and nephews, Tom and Mike Hudson, and Todd Reher.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the service time of 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the DeWitt Congregational UCC, Pastor Chris Marlin-Warfield officiating. Burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the DeWitt Congregational UCC, or Camp Courageous.
