Marilyn Zeimet Obituary

Marilyn Kay (Mrs. Kenneth) Zeimet, 75, of Bryant, Iowa, died late Friday afternoon, October 5, 2018, at Grand Haven Retirement Community, Eldridge.

Marilyn Kay Fatchett was born September 25, 1943, in Clinton to George and Leona (Dosland) Fatchett.  She graduated from Elvira High School.  On July 31, 1965, Marilyn was united in marriage to Kenneth Zeimet in Preston.  In addition to raising their family, Marilyn provided child care in her home for many years. Her husband preceded her in death October 15, 2016.

Marilyn enjoyed crafting especially,  basket making, counted cross stitch, stained glass, holiday craft projects and assisting her husband with woodworking projects.  She was an excellent cook and baker who delighted in feeding her family and others.  Marilyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who found great joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She also was a great fan of Elvis.

Lovingly remembering her are children, Dan (Melissa) Zeimet of Davenport, Jay (Jo) Zeimet of DeWitt and  Melissa Amacher of Clinton; grandchildren, Tyler Zeimet, Kayla Zeimet, Kami Zeimet, Keaton Zeimet and Leah Zeimet; siblings, Mary (Gary) Daniels of Geneseo, Illinois, Evelyn (Ray) Stuedemann of Clinton and Robert (Ruth) Fatchett of DeWitt and many nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018.   A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Saints Philp & James Catholic Church, Grand Mound.  The Rev. Fr. Stephen Page and Deacon Mike Shiel officiating.  Burial will be at Center Grove Cemetery, rural Bryant. 

Pallbearers will be Tyler Zeimet, Keaton Zeimet, Brian Daniels, Lareon Daniels, Kevin Toppert, Brent Griswold and Juan Rays.

Marilyn's family would like to thank the Moments Staff at Grand Haven along with the Heartland Hospice staff for the kind and loving care they provided to Marilyn.
