Marilyn Hair

Marilyn Jo Hair, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Fieldstone of DeWitt.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at First Congregational UCC in DeWitt, with visitation one hour prior. Marilyn will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Evergreen Cemetery in Prescott, Iowa, at a later date.

Marilyn Jo McCord was born on September 21, 1929, in Coin, Iowa, to Joe and Mary (Adkins) McCord. She graduated from high school in Gothenburg, Nebraska, in 1947. On October 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Cecil V. Hair in Prescott, Iowa.

A devoted homemaker, Marilyn took great joy in raising their three sons. She was a baptized Christian and a longtime member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in DeWitt. Marilyn enjoyed gardening and volunteering her time to serve both her church and her community.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas and Ross, both of DeWitt; her daughter-in-law, Jane Hair of Arizona; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, who passed away in 1988, Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Vernan; and her siblings, Evelyn McCord, Hazel Smith, and Jerry McCord.
