Marian Swanson, 84, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Fieldstone of DeWitt.
Marian Kae Baird was born February 13, 1940, to Nat and Viola Baird of DeWitt. After graduating from DeWitt High School, she married Jim Hansen. The couple resided on the family farm in Low Moor until his death. She later married Robert Swanson, moving to DeWitt in 1980. Marian worked many years as a medical transcriptionist, but she was most known for teaching piano to “her kids”. On a daily basis, Marian could be seen in her little red car driving around DeWitt checking in on friends and family.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Bob, and their daughter, Chanda Swanson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Nat Baird Jr., and a nephew.
She is survived by her son, Rick (Julie) Hansen of DeWitt; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jared) Ryan of North English, Jessica Hansen of Dallas, Texas, Lauren (Jamere) Hill of Houston, Texas, and Timothy Hansen of DeWitt; 10 great-grandchildren; a niece, and two great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held October 12, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the DeWitt Public Library meeting room. Private interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to the family.
