Marcella “Marcy” Steinke, 92, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her home at Grand Haven in Eldridge, Iowa.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in DeWitt, Sister Janet Heiar, SSND officiating. Procession to the cemetery will begin at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt at 10:15 a.m.
Marcella A. Bauer was born January 9, 1931, in Bellevue, Iowa, to William and Cecelia (Koppes) Bauer. She graduated from high school in Welton, Iowa. She married Kenneth Steinke on August 9, 1952, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Welton. The couple resided in DeWitt, where they raised two children. Kenny preceded her in death in 2017.
Marcy was a proud and dedicated member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. She enjoyed being a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, serving many funeral lunches. She loved reading, playing BUNCO, gathering walnuts, cooking, and making Christmas ornaments. She always loved having a pet cat.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Terri) Steinke of Urbandale, and Lori Ann Day of Davenport; grandchildren, Adam and Tyler Steinke and Dustin and Shelby Day; great-grandchildren, Kalani, Liam, and Layla; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Bob Bauer, Mary Guerra, Darlene (Roy) Templeton, Beverly Moore, and Bill (Joyce) Bauer.
