Lucille "Lucy" Lee-Petersen Obituary

Lucille “Lucy” Lee-Petersen, 91, of Calamus, Iowa, died Monday, May 6, 2024, at Wheatland Manor, with family at her side.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church in Calamus. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2024, in the church, the Rev. Leah Holloway-Nilsen officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calamus.

Lucy was born Lucille Margaret Meier on May 31, 1932, north of Grand Mound, Iowa, to Fred and Hilda (Husen) Meier. The family later moved to rural Scott County. She graduated from Calamus High School in 1950. She married Ralph “Wob” Lee on May 8, 1954, at Faith Lutheran Church in Calamus. The couple farmed near Calamus until Wob’s death in 1993. Lucy later married Robert “Bob” Petersen on June 21, 1996, at Faith Lutheran Church in Calamus. Bob preceded her in death in 1997.

Lucy was a lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church, serving faithfully in many capacities and supporting many ministries. Prior to the church’s founding in 1950, she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Mound.  She was also a member of Wapsi Oaks Country Club and the Calamus American Legion Auxiliary. Lucy enjoyed golfing and playing cards, league bowling, traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving are her children, Jone (Les) Paarmann of Wheatland, Jana (Dan) Montgomery of Des Moines, and Alan Lee of Calamus; step-daughter, Ann Petersen of Calamus; grandchildren, Jessica (Nathan) Von Behren, Michael Paarmann, Ned Montgomery, and Lucy (Lena Munzer) Montgomery; 3 great-grandchildren, Brant, Natalie and Heidi Lucille Von Behren; many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Luella (Harry) Burzlaff, Ralph (Ruth) Meier, Grover (Lois) Meier, Don (Marilyn) Meier, and Vernon (Babe) Meier.
