Lucille Cady

Lucille Cady, 93, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2025, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Lucille Sophia Henricksen was born October 7, 1931, in Jackson County, Iowa, to Marvin and Pearl (Henfrey) Henricksen. After graduating from Sabula High School, she was employed at Interstate Power Co. in Clinton, where she met the love of her life, Wayne Cady. They were married on August 9, 1953, at Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton. The couple settled in DeWitt in 1957, raising three children. Lucille worked as clerk for the City of DeWitt until retirement. After retirement, she and Wayne enjoyed traveling together in their motor home. Wayne preceded her in death on May 29, 2009.

Surviving are her children, Cindy (Garrick) Jessen of DeWitt, James (Melinda) Cady of DeWitt, and Carol Galetka of Osseo, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Adam, Shari (Carlos), Andrew, Samantha (Angel), Tiffany (Wade), Ryan (Jessica), Mitchell (Lacy), Kyle (Steff), Nathan, and Chas; greatgrandchildren, Ava, Abe, Dominic, Carlitos, Camilla, Dani, Steven, Brady, Uriel, Hunter, Conner, Rhett, Everett, and Easton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Caryn, and her brother, Russell (Peggy) Henricksen.
