Lucille Elizabeth "Lucy" Broadfoot, 94, of DeWitt, Iowa, peacefully passed away on June 11, 2025, at Wheatland Manor.
A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, with Visitation one hour prior. Burial at Oakview Cemetery, Welton will follow the luncheon in Grace Hall.
Lucy was born on January 14, 1931, at City Memorial Hospital in Maquoketa, Iowa, to John H. Schrader and Helen B. (Hovey) Schrader. She graduated from Welton High School and went on to build a life centered around family, faith, and service to her community.
On August 11, 1951, Lucy married Richard Elmer Broadfoot, and together they made their home in De Witt Iowa. Lucy dedicated many years to working as a teacher's aide at De Witt Central Community Schools, where she touched the lives of countless students with her caring nature.
Lucy was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, where her faith provided strength and comfort throughout her life. She found great joy in traveling to visit her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with family. Lucy also enjoyed her time with Card Club friends and camping adventures with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Lucy is survived by her beloved husband, Dick Boardfoot of DeWitt; her children Dr. Rick (Jeri) Broadfoot of Honolulu, Hawaii, David (Cathy) Broadfoot of La Quinta, California, Kevin (Amy) Broadfoot of Charlotte, Iowa, and Cathy Youngers of De Witt, Iowa:, six grandchildren: James Broadfoot, Mary (Nick) Weber, Jessica (Wilson) Lee., and Eric (Rebecca) Broadfoot; Jack Mantych, Travis(Gennifer) Mantych; seven great-grandchildren: Lienna Broadfoot, Sienna and Amber Lee, Mila, Quinn, and Bruce Broadfoot, Owen Mantych, and Josie Weber.
Lucy was preceded in death by an infant brother, her sisters Madonna (Paul) Reimers and Sadie Mae (Donald) Hoffman, and her son-in-law Dean Youngers.
Lucy's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her gentle spirit and unwavering faith served as an inspiration to many, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
