Lon Barten

Lon Barten, 64, of Charlotte, Iowa, died Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center-East, in Davenport, following a brief illness.

Lon Henry Barten was born October 21, 1960, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Roy and Ruth (Rickertsen) Barten. Lon attended high school in Goose Lake before working at Manikowski Quarry. Lon also worked for the railroad, and later operated heavy equipment in the mines in South Dakota. Lon had a daughter, Leah, who preceded him in death in 2021.

Lon will be remembered as a loving father, and a good friend to many. 

He is survived by his granddaughter, Elodie; siblings, Shawn Barten of Charlotte, and Sheila Witt of Clinton; nieces and nephews, Shawn, Monica, Dustin, Jessica, Briana, Ashley, Katlin, and Jacob; and his beloved dog, Rocco.

Lon was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, a sister, Sally, and brothers, Lee and Lynn, as well as many other relatives.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Rossiter Cemetery in Charlotte.
