Lois Mae Dieckmann, 95, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Wheatland Manor.
Lois was born May 27, 1929, in Grand Mound, Iowa, to Ralph and Alice (Porth) Whitman. She married Bill Dieckmann on June 16, 1948, in Grand Mound. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2000.
Lois was a teacher for the Calamus and Wheatland school districts during all her working life. Lois was a member of SS Philip & James Catholic Church in Grand Mound, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Altar & Rosary Society. Lois enjoyed following her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and the St. Louis Cardinals, playing cards, golfing, having coffee with friends, and volunteering at Wheatland Manor. She was well known for her baking, especially her cinnamon rolls.
Surviving are her children, Linda Kleineck of Cedar Rapids, Leon Dieckmann of Calamus, Brenda (Bill) Gorman of Huxley, and Barb (CW) McCollom of Davenport; 7 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Landfair of Loveland, Colorado.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, June Schuster and brother, Ray Whitman.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2024, at SS Philip & James Catholic Church in Grand Mound. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2024, in the church, the Rev. Fr. Stephen Page officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calamus.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to SS Philip & James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, or CALCO.
