Linda Joyce (Story) Terrill, 77, of Eldridge, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, following an extended illness.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Schulz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A private graveside service and burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Cremation rites have been extended according to Linda's wishes.
Linda was born to Robert and Stella (Mickey) Story on April 17, 1947, in Clinton, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Central Community Schools in DeWitt in 1965. Linda married Ronald King in June 1965, and they had three children; Dana, Dean and Jennifer. They divorced in 1982. She married Walt Terrill in 1985, and they later divorced. Linda worked in retail for many years but found her career as a jeweler beginning at Necker’s Jewelers original store in DeWitt. From there she worked in jewelry at JC Penny's, The Diamond Centre, K’s Merchandise, and Phoenix Jewelers. That began her love of jewelry and eventually led to her special friendships with the Bling Bling Sisters.
Linda was most proud, and especially compassionate, in her career as a caregiver. She worked with Alzheimer's patients and in-home care for many years, developing a deep love for her clients, and that feeling was always mutual. She will always be remembered for her warmth and sense of humor that made everyone around her feel welcomed and loved. That care-giving spirit endured into her time at Clarissa C. Cook, when she would often try to take care of the staff.
The family would like to thank mom's special 'Angel' for giving her more time with us after a kidney transplant in 2020. You will always be a special part of our family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your compassion, humbleness and selflessness.
We especially want to thank the staff and volunteers at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. In addition to the many laughs, tears, hugs, knuckle explosions and never-ending oatmeal and ice cream, all of you came along side of us together with family and friends to 'walk her home' to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are eternally grateful for your love, compassion and extraordinary care.
Surviving are her children, Dana King of Davenport, Dean (Carol) King of Loudon, TN, and Jennifer (Mike) Wendland of Eldridge; a grandson, Andrew King of Davenport; brothers, Robert Story of Madison, WI, and Lauren (Linda) Story of Morrison, IL; bonus grandchildren, Kim (Lisa) Wendland of Hoffman Estates, IL, Sarah (Jason) Wendland of Davenport, and Adam Wendland of Oxford Junction; bonus great-grandchildren, Tristinn Davis, Miya Davis, Quinn, Jade, and Hazel Wendland; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; last, but certainly not least, her fur grand-puppy, Harley.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Stella Story, sister, Marsha Kay, brother Keith “Beav”, and sister-in-law, Judy Story.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to support Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, and University of Iowa Organ Transplant Center.
