Linda Olson, 78, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, in Davenport.
Linda Louise McClatchey was born June 10, 1946, in Manilla, Iowa, to John and Ella (Lorenzen) McClatchey. She graduated from Manilla High School in 1964. Linda was united in marriage to Ronald Eugene Olson November 14, 1964, in Eldora, Iowa. The couple resided in Iowa Falls and Washington before settling in DeWitt, where she was a homemaker, raising 3 children. Linda was a daycare provider for many years, later working for Central DeWitt Community Schools. Ron preceded her in death on December 12, 2016.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved assisting Ron with his projects and woodworking. The couple cherished many activities together, including spending time outdoors, camping, and coaching youth softball. She was dedicated to her children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting and school activities. One of her favorite hobbies was shopping, and she had an impressive collection of shoes, purses, and clothing.
Surviving are her children, Troy (Deb) Olson of Grand Mound, Melissa (Bud) Sersig of Silvis, Illinois, and Meg (Dave) Butler of Grand Mound; grandchildren, Tyler Olson, Tate (Maria) Olson, Samantha Olson, Natalie Butler and Nathan Butler; great-grandchildren, Ella Olson, Luna Erickson-Olson and Killian Spencer; a sister, Shirley (Dick) Hanson; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Murphy.
The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025. A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
