Lauren Story, 67, of Morrison, Illinois, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away suddenly Monday, January 13, 2025, at Morrison Community Hospital.
Lauren Bruce Story was born October 3, 1957, in DeWitt, Iowa, to Robert and Stella (Mickey) Story. He graduated from Central Community Schools in 1976. Lauren was united in marriage to Linda Ketelsen on August 4, 1978, at Grand Mound, Iowa. He worked as a meat cutter his entire working life, starting at Skeffington’s in DeWitt. He and Linda raised three children.
Lauren was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Morrison. He enjoyed being on bowling and softball leagues, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an avid Cubs and Packers fan. Lauren never met a stranger. He could talk to and make friends with anyone, which he did all over the country.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda; children, Marsha Story of Prophetstown, IL, Mallory (Jim) Hardesty of Morrison, and Mitchell (Anna) Story of Morrison; grandchildren, Mya Lauren, Alivia, Lisa, and Vincent; a brother, Robert Story of Middleton, WI; numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws; and his beloved dog, Wrigley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Keith, an infant sister, Marcia Kay, sister, Linda Terrill, sister-in-law, Judy Story, and his beloved dog Lambeau.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Additional visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Morrison, with Funeral Service following at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Hospital, a cause which was dear to Lauren’s heart.
