Larry F. Galloway, 81, of Grand Mound, Iowa, passed away Sunday January 29, 2023.
Beloved husband to Pat (Rohlfs) for nearly 60 years (February 16); “Dad” and “Pop” to Roxanne (Richard) Minor, John Galloway, Raelynn (Donny) Brown and Jay Galloway; “Grandpa Larry” “Gramps” and “Papa Choo Choos” to Reid Minor, Jenica (fiancé Justin Sparks) Minor, Kayla (Tyler) Schurbon, Margaret and Jack Brown, and Alea Galloway; “Great Grandpa” to Henley and Finn Sparks.
Family time was his greatest joy, whether on trips to Grand Lake Colorado, Kansas City, or all together in Grand Mound playing backyard games or a hand of cards. He spent nearly his entire working career behind the wheel of a semi before transitioning to tractors and combines. He loved working for Whitman Farms, especially at harvest. It was not uncommon to find Larry tinkering or woodworking in his garage, but his retired mornings were spent with the coffee crew followed up by polka music and jigsaw puzzles with a good ‘ole Grit western on the TV.
Larry was born June 24, 1941, into a large family. Surviving are a brother Earl Galloway; 3 sisters, Barb Schroeder, Marcia (Ron) Barton, and Linda Miller; an Aunt Iona Knight, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Earline (Riggs) Galloway, 3 sisters Rhea, Darlene and Delores, and 8 brothers, Jerry, Don, Dwain, Alan, Roger, Russ, Jim and Geff.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound. A Graveside Service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Mound, with Pastor Denise Anderberg officiating.
