Kathy Ann Skeffington passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the age of 68. She was born November 23, 1951 in DeWitt, IA and passed at home in Davenport, IA following her long battle with lupus.
Kathy Ann Carnahan was born to James and Barbara (Harrington) Carnahan. She grew-up in DeWitt, graduating from Central Community High School in 1970. She attended and received her bachelor’s degree from Saint Ambrose College in 1977. On July 15, 1972, she was united in marriage to Robert Skeffington. Together they raised three sons, Kelly, Wesley, and Matthew.
Kathy was a loving wife and mother who lived a life focused on helping others. Her professional career reflected this same passion of beneficence starting with her role as a counselor in the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA), her many years as a special needs’ teacher at Central Community Schools, and in her time as a milieu therapist at Genesis Medical Center.
Surviving are her loving husband of 47 years, Robert; sons, Kelly (Kayla Miller) Skeffington, Wesley (Megan) Skeffington, and Matthew (Stephanie) Skeffington; a sister, Jane (Kent) Vogt; brothers, Joe (Linda) Bouma and Jim Carnahan; grandchildren, Kaleb and Bella.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Peggy Loeffers and Mary Namer.
Visitation will be from 10:00-10:45AM Friday December 13, 2019 at Schultz Funeral Home at 722 8th Street, DeWitt. A service will be held at 11:00AM Friday in the Funeral home with the Rev. Gary Gravert officiating. A reception will follow at the DeWitt American Legion.
