Julie Krukow, 72, of DeWitt, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2022, in the church, the Rev. Eric Obermann officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Julie was born August 14, 1950, to W.W. “Bill” and Alice (Traetow) Moeller, in Waverly, Iowa. After graduating from DeWitt Central in 1968, she went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Northern Iowa. Julie was united in marriage to Mitch Krukow on June 17, 1972, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt. They resided in rural Scott County, Iowa, where they raised their family. She worked as a lab technician at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton for 28 years, and then at Genesis Medical Centers in Davenport for several years, retiring in 2012. The couple moved to rural DeWitt in 2000.

Julie was a devoted mother and grandmother and never missed any of their events and activities. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was very active in the choir, altar guild, Sunday school, Grace Camp, women’s circles, the board of outreach, the October Feast, and many other projects. She also volunteered at the DeWitt Referral Center. Julie was an avid card player and was a member of the same card club for 48 years. She enjoyed playing Mahjong, attending sporting events, crafting and making cards, and traveling for family vacations. Julie never met a stranger, and made friends with everyone she came in contact with.

She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 50 years, Mitch; children, Cory (Rachael) Krukow of DeWitt, Ryan (Larissa) Krukow of Princeton, and Kellie (Scott) Backes of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Carver, Hudson, Gavin, and Halston Krukow, Lane (fiancée Riley), Ella, Abe, and Coy Krukow, and Rylan, Reid, and Rhett Backes; siblings, Rick (Diane) Moeller, Jane (Mike) Buege, and Joel (Maureen) Moeller; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
