Jim Kedley, 73, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Sunday evening, February 14, 2021, at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton.
James Loras Kedley was born February 22, 1947, in Long Beach, California, to Harold and Margaret (Reed) Kedley. He grew up on a farm at rural DeWitt and attended St. Joseph School from which he graduated in 1965. Jim graduated from Loras College, Dubuque in 1969 with a Bachelor's degree in business and economics. He married Laurel Yegge March 6, 1970, in DeWitt. He earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration while residing in Illinois. Jim was employed by Outboard Marine Corporation, J.I. Case and Total Realty of DeWitt.
He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt and the Knights of Columbus. Jim enjoyed golfing, rooting for the Chicago Bears and spending time with his family and friends. He was a hard worker, enjoying his work and loved collecting John Deere toys and memorabilia. Above all, Jim was an avid fan of his son Chad's baseball career.
Surviving are his wife, Laurel; his son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Charlotte Kedley of Phoenix, Arizona; his beloved granddaughter whom he adored, Payton; his siblings, Bill (Karen) Kedley of Sodis Bay, New York, Jerry (Nancy) Kedley of Clinton, Trish LaLonde of Rochester, New York, Celine Kedley of DeWitt and Fresno, California, and Joan (Joe) Motsinger of Boulder, Colorado; a brother-in-law, Douglas (Teresa) Yegge of Clinton; a special niece, Alicia Renee Herlihy as well as many other nieces and nephews whom Jim was very proud of.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2021, with a vigil service at 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt and will be streamed at https://www.facebook.com/schultzfuneralhomes/live. The Rev. Fr. Stephen Page will officiate with burial at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials are suggested to the charity of your choice.
Pallbearers will be Jim Kedley, Pat Kedley, Joe Reed, Ken Schwantz, Dan O'Connor and Leo Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Reed, Bill Toedt, Steve Kedley, Tom Gindorff, Nick Gindorff, Daniel Kedley, Ryan Kedley and Ron Wheeler.
