Jill D. Jepsen

Jill D. Jepsen of DeWitt, 71, lived a life devoted to her Faith, family and country.

Jill passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2026, surrounded by family and is now with her Lord and Savior.

Jill Doreen Schroeder was born July 26, 1954, in DeWitt, Iowa, to Hobart and Joan (Gool) Schroeder. On September 2, 1954, she was one of the first babies to be baptized in the then new building at Grace Lutheran Church. Jill grew up in Jackson County where she graduated from Preston High School. She married Tom Jepsen on July 18, 1971. They were blessed with two daughters and 54 loving years of marriage.

Jill was a current member of Grace Lutheran, DeWitt, member of the Altar Guild, taught Vacation Bible School at Grace Camp, volunteered at the Victory Center. She loved Bible Study and fellowship with her church family. She previously taught Sunday School. Her Bible was her guide for life and she relished time in it. Jill always tried to follow Christ’s example and placed others above herself, all for the Glory to God.

Jill was totally devoted to her husband, Tom, daughters Nicole and Tricia, son-in-law, Doug, three grandchildren, Nicholas, Benjamin and Emma, sister, Judi (John) Henningsen, brother, Tim (Cheryl) Schroeder, and her extended family. Jill loved Thanksgiving and Christmas family celebrations. She loved traveling to visit family members and attending events in Ames at Iowa State University with family. Jill was welcomed into heaven by her daughter, Nicole Jill Jepsen, her parents, and two brothers.

Jill served as member and Chaplain of the Lawrence Van Hook Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She was an avid history buff and devoted time to restoring Patriot tombstones. Jill was one-eighth Cheyenne Indian and honored by her American Indian heritage.

A  Funeral Service is being planned for 10:30a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt.

Cremation is being performed by the Schultz Funeral Home family at their crematory in DeWitt.  Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Camp, DeWitt.
