Obituary

Janet Schlemmer, 63, of Davenport, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, following a prolonged illness.

Janet Ann Levien was born July 27, 1959, to Norman and Lois (Puck) Levien in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from Wheatland High School in 1977. Janet was married to Larry Schlemmer, with whom she had two daughters, Meagan and Crystal. She retired from ALCOA/Arconic.

She enjoyed the companionship of friends she made at church, playing BINGO and card games, volunteering, and hosting gatherings of family and friends. Janet’s love and hospitality was shared extensively and many of her daughters’ friends knew her as “Mom.” She also loved animals, and will be greatly missed by her dog, Kloe.

Survivors include her daughter, Meagan Schlemmer of Muscatine; siblings, Darrell (Cindy) Levien of Dixon, Duane (Denise) Levien of Calamus, and Joyce Ganzer of Wheatland; nieces and nephews; several “adopted” grandchildren; and a lifelong friend, Kathy.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal, and her parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Condolences may be expressed at www.schultzfuneralhomes.com
