James Knepper Sr., 83, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 6, 2025, in Davenport.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service time of 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2025, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
James Allen Knepper Sr. was born July 12, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa, to Bonnie and Jennie (Sworner) Knepper. After graduating from high school in DeWitt, he served in the U.S. Army. James was married to Lorraine, with whom he had three children. He later married Bette Ramsey, and adopted her three children. She preceded him in death 2003. James worked for nearly 30 years as a seed corn technician, retiring in 2004.
James enjoyed bike riding, the outdoors, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Debra (Gary) Whitcomb of Long Grove, Becky (Scott) Robertson of Salem, Arkansas, Pete (Derlyin) Cahill of Lincoln, California, John Knepper of Waterloo, Mike Knepper, and Jeff Knepper; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, as well as siblings, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sons, James Allen Knepper, Jr., and Todd Knepper.
